Tomorrow Is No Guarantee

Recently I watched a High School State Tournament baseball game where winner of the game would play the defending state champs the next day. One team puts their ace pitcher on the mound while the other saves their best pitcher for the next day's game, assuming they will win the first game. So one team is playing for today, this game they're in right now. The other team is playing and planning for tomorrow's game which won't even take place if they don't win. The team that pitched their ace pitcher won the game. Their focus was on today's game knowing that tomorrow's game is no guarantee. That same principle applies to our daily lives. We plan and prepare for tomorrow and the truth is tomorrow is not guaranteed. "Now listen, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money." Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes."(Jas.4:13-14) This life is short and there are no guarantees for tomorrow. We must take one day at a time and live each day for the Lord. "Instead, you ought to say, "If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that."(Jas.4:15)
