The Worst Thing That Was The Best Thing

There was plenty of controversy around the recent executions in our state. In fact, Arkansas gained national attention from the multiple executions. Some are for capital punishment and some are totally against it. Both sides were vocal during Arkansas" recent executions. No matter what your view is and where you fit into the capital punishment argument, I think we all agree that executing an innocent man would be a horrible tragedy. The judicial system would call it the worst thing ever and a major travesty. I'm sure much effort goes into making sure this doesn't happen. It did happen! An innocent man was executed. Over 2,000 years ago an innocent man was sentenced to die by crucifixion between two deserving and convicted criminals. Jesus, convicted of no sin or wrong doing, died on a hill outside the city of Jerusalem an innocent man. From a legal perspective this is the worst thing ever. From a spiritual side this was the best thing that could have ever happened. In this incident, the worst thing was the best thing. The death of an innocent Jesus was the best thing ever for mankind because through His shed blood we have healing from our sins and the hope of heaven. "He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed."(I Pet.2:24)
