The Top Of Every Dad's To Do List

"The Top Of Every Dad's To Do List" I know we dads seem to have an unending "to do" list all of the time. Aside from all the repairs and chores from the "to do" list that we"d like to forget about, there is also that "to do" list that we love and look forward to accomplishing. As a dad I love my "to do" list with my kids. That may sound bad, but I don't mean it in a negative way at all. I have a mental list of things I'd like to do today, this summer or this year with my kids. This list includes any and everything from playing catch or basketball to seeing a ballgame to going to a specific restaurant or movie with one of them or all of them. This is the "to do" list that I long for and can't wait for each activity with my kids. No matter how young or old my kids were or what time of the year it was, there is one thing about my "to do" list that has remained the same since we've had kids. The top of my mental "to do" list with my kids reads: "lead each of my children to Jesus and teach them to love God more than anyone or anything". We've been blessed to do some fun and neat things with our kids so far but all of that will be meaningless if I don't lead them to heaven. The most important thing a dad can do for his children is lead them to Christ. Leading your children to Christ is the one thing that will be with them forever and throughout eternity. Leading your children to Christ will hopefully begin a legacy that will challenge them to follow and pass on to their children someday. "Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord."(Eph.6:4) Dad's, let's enjoy fun times with our children but make the top priority on our "to do" list leading our children to Jesus.
