The Road To Spiritual Maturity
March 13, 2015 | By Chuck
"Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."(Jas.1:4) Every Christian should have the goal of becoming spiritually mature. The whole idea behind maturity is growth. One can't mature without some kind of growth taking place. According to James, perseverance is the key to spiritual maturity. As we learn the art of not quitting and hanging in there, we mature spiritually. The real challenge of learning perseverance and maturing spiritually is what we have to endure in the process. "Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance."(Jas.1:2-3) The road to spiritual maturity is paved with life's difficulties. When we go through trials in this life our faith is tested. When our faith is tested we either persevere and keep going or quit. For the devoted child of God, quitting can never become an option and perseverance must be a way of life. Throughout life as we continue to persevere through hardships and trials we will achieve the goal of spiritual maturity. The road to spiritual maturity, because of its hazards, is the road less traveled, but it is well worth the ride in the end.
