The Fruit of The Spirit

Jesus said, "Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me"(Jno.15:4). As Christians we are expected to bear fruit and the only way we can bear fruit is to remain attached to the vine, Jesus. By remaining attached to the vine, being faithful to God, what kind of fruit are we to bear? "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control"(Gal.5:22-23). Since our baptism we have been Spirit-filled Christians, therefore, we are to exemplify in our lives the very character qualities of Jesus. The fruit of the Spirit is made up of nine different character qualities of our Lord Jesus. Please understand, this is not a pick and choose the one's you like and don't like. All nine of these qualities are to have a shining presence in the Christian's life. If you're like me, some of these qualities are easily demonstrated in life, while there are a few that are more challenging. We have to pray, study and seek to remain in Jesus so that we'll bear the fruit in our lives that pleases Him, even the difficult. "The is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit showing yourselves to be my disciples"(Jno.15:8).
