Surprise Attack

A surprise attack is when the enemy sneaks up on you and catches you off guard. Some animals use this tactic on their prey. December 7th is a reminder of a surprise attack. On December 7, 1941 the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor and it was a surprise attack. We were not prepared for the attack and because of that we lost many lives that day. Claims have been made that we should've known or that we could've known, but by the looks of the outcome it's clear we were surprised by the attack. As Christians we have to be prepared for a surprise attack from our enemy the Devil. (I Pet.5:8) Satan will do anything and use anyone to devour us spiritually. Satan wants to deceive us into thinking that we don't need God and that sin is okay. We don't always know when Satan will attack so we must be prepared for a surprise attack. We ready ourselves for Satan's attacks by feeding on God's Word on a regular basis for our own spiritual nourishment. Also, time alone with God in prayer strengthens us as we strive to prepare for and overcome Satan's attacks. We can't afford to grow lethargic in our faith lest we be devoured by one of Satan's surprise attacks. "The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God."(II Cor.4:4)
