Second Chances

"Second Chances" I don't know about you but I believe in second chances. A second chance is like a mulligan in golf or a do over. It's when we acknowledge someone's mistake and we agree to forgive them and move on thus giving them a second chance. Where would you and I be today without a few second chances? Hasn't your spouse, friends and brothers and sisters in Christ given you a second chance or two? I know that none of us are perfect. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."(Rom.3:23) Since we all make mistakes, don't you think we should believe in and practice second chances. Folks, the God who created this universe and the God we serve is the God of second chances. The adulterous woman in John 8:1-11 deserved a death sentence, according to the old law. Instead, Jesus said, "neither do I condemn you. Go now and leave your life of sin."(John 8:11) Jesus gave her a second chance. In Mark 14:66-72, Peter denied Jesus three times and this after Jesus had already told him that it would happen. This broke Peter's heart and "he broke down and wept".(Mk.14:72) Jesus obviously gave Peter a second chance as Peter went on to have a very fruitful ministry for the Lord, preaching on Pentecost and writing I and II Peter. God has given you and me plenty of second chances. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."(I Jno.1:9) God continues to give us second chances so let's be like Him and give second chances to those who hurt and offend us.
