Praising Him Always

"I will praise you, O Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonders. I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High."(Psalm 9:1-2) We Christians love to praise God. In fact, so much of our Sunday time together is devoted to praising Him. You might even hear one of us exclaim "Praise God", when something good happens or when things are going well. We should praise God every single day, no matter what is going on around us The challenge is praising God even on our bad days and when things don't go our way. Let's face it; it's easy to praise God when things are good and going the way we want. Reality is that life doesn't always go our way and we all have bad days from time to time. This past Tuesday morning I was headed out of town to pray for a sweet sister before her surgery when I had a blowout on the interstate. This was not scheduled in my day timer and interfered with my plans terribly. It's at times like these that we typically get frustrated, even angry and don't even think about praising God. Why get mad and why not praise God during the rough times? The Psalmist, in the above cited text, simply mentions praising God "with all my heart". Never does he mention that he will praise God in the good times and only when God's blessings flow on him. Do we only associate our praise for God with the blessings He gives? If that's the case, then it's no wonder that we only think of praising Him in the good times. God is faithful to you and me always and no matter what, so we should be faithful to Him and praise Him always. Our praise for God should never become conditional depending on blessings and circumstances. As God's children, let's make a conscious effort to praise Him always, no matter what is going on in our lives. Easy? No! Necessary? Yes! Deserved? Absolutely! Praise Him!
