Peace, Please

Wouldn't it be nice if we could pull up to the drive-thru and order a bucket of peace? After all, there's a drive-thru for almost everything these days. But there's not a drive-thru for peace. I have a strong desire to have peace and I'm sure that you do as well. Our world seems to be so unsettled and such a place without peace. The good news is that we don't receive peace from the world. If we're waiting for the world to deliver us peace, we'll never have peace. Jesus said, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you."(Jno.14:27) Jesus wants us to have peace. And true peace comes only from Jesus. "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."(Jno.16:33) Sadly, far too many people spend so much of their life searching this world for peace. Substance abuse and widespread immorality are just a few results of people looking in the wrong places for peace. Peace doesn't come in a bottle or a drug or even in the form of immorality. Peace comes from having a relationship with Jesus. "Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand."(Rom.5:1-2)
