One Thing We Can All Do

I'll never sing on stage at the Grand Ole Opry. I'll never dress out and play in a major league baseball game. I'll never win an Oscar or an Academy Award. There are just some things I don't have the ability to do. Believe me, I'm at peace with that because there are other things I can do and there is one specific thing that we can all do. No matter your age or talent, no matter where you're from or where you live now, no matter how much you have or don't have, I'm convinced that we can all be kind. That's it, one thing we can all do is be kind. Paul even encourages us to "be kind to one another"(Eph.4:32). This isn't teaching us to only be kind to those who are kind to us. We are to be kind. Think about the difference it would make in the world if everyone made it a point to be kind every day. I realize we all have bad days, but it's not difficult to be kind to someone. A simple smile, a hello or a good morning. I can do those things even when I'm not in a good mood and you can too. Maybe our goal to be kind to others every day will become contagious. Maybe this will grow from kind words and simple pleasantries to kind acts toward others. When we are doing kind acts for others we are not focusing on ourselves. When we are doing random acts of kindness we are serving the Lord. I know without a doubt the one thing we can all do is be kind. Let's do it! "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law"(Gal.5:22-23).
