God Opens Doors

I remember like it was yesterday a conversation I had with a preacher friend of mine nearly twenty years ago on the golf course. I shared with him my dream to hopefully one day have access to speak at schools to students about life changing topics. I was in my early twenties and not yet in ministry at the time. I was just a young Christian with a dream and a desire to make a difference for God. Honestly, I had forgotten about that dream over the years. I became very busy with family and day to day ministry responsibilities and besides, how in the world can I get into a public school classroom to teach a lesson to students. This dream was simply set aside and really and truly forgotten because I had no idea what message I would even share with students if given the opportunity. Let me just say that God opens doors. Thanks to God, this semester I have been privileged to work with the "Empowered Program" which teaches abstinence to 8th and 9th graders. I've spent several Monday's this semester either at Cabot Freshman Academy or Junior High North teaching abstinence to students. Of course there are guidelines that I must adhere to. For example, I can't take my Bible into the classroom and start preaching. But believe me I'm still preaching to those students a life changing message that they so need to hear. What an awesome opportunity God has provided me with these students. "And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains."(Col.4:3) Although I had forgotten that old dream of mine, I've always prayed for open doors and opportunities to teach and make a difference for the Lord. It took a while but just recently I remembered my twenty year old dream as I watched God open doors and make my dream a reality. Now it's up to me to "make the most of every opportunity."(Col.4:5)
