God Is Sovereign

"God Is Sovereign" It seems with each week comes another mass shooting somewhere. There is all kinds of abuse in our world. Tragedy and devastation strike with regularity leaving behind many causalities and much grief. We find ourselves shaking our heads in disbelief at the decisions of our leaders. Some are panic stricken, thinking what is going on in this world? Where is this world headed? Once in a while it's just good to be reminded of who is in control. With all the bad news we're constantly fed, we just need to know that God is sovereign. God rules heaven and earth. No matter what's going on at a world level, national level or even in our individual lives, God is still and always will be in control. "Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are his. He changes times and seasons; he sets up kings and deposes them. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning." (Dan.2:21) Daniel basically says that God is in control of everything. From time and seasons to kings and kingdoms, God is in control and rules them all. As I look with some concern at the direction it appears that our world is going, I find much peace and comfort in knowing that God is sovereign. The bottom line is this. No matter how dangerous this world becomes, God is still sovereign and in control. No matter how sinful this world becomes, God is still sovereign and in control. No matter how bleak you think the present and future looks, I hope you'll find comfort in the fact that we serve the God who is sovereign over everything.
