First Order Of Business
March 19, 2015 | By Chuck
What is your first order of business each morning? I'm sure some go straight for the coffee pot. There are those who stumble into the shower so they can wake up. Still, there are those who begin preparing breakfast and waking all others so they can prepare for the day. I would classify all of these as normal morning activities. However, recently I heard a preacher say in the eulogy of a sweet sister in Christ, that our first order of business each day should be to prepare for the next life. How many have, on their daily list of things to do, to prepare for the next life? What that preacher said really hit home for me. I had to ask myself, is my first order of business every day about preparing for the next life. I know we all have dozens of things to do each day but it seems to me that none should be as important as preparing for the next life. There is "a time to be born and a time to die."(Eccl.3:2) "What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes."(Jas.4:14) We will all face death someday and this life is short, so let's strive daily to make our first order of business about preparing for the next life.
