Don't Major In Minors

Sometimes I think we major in minors. What I mean is, at times we give more attention to the not so important things in life than we do the very important things. It seems that we tend to focus on the insignificant matters and the things which really need attention are overlooked. A college student declares his or her major and that becomes the emphasis of their study from then on. As Christians, haven't we declared our major as Jesus? Every day I should major in Jesus. My focus and emphasis should be on Him no matter what. What concerns me is if this problem of majoring in minors slips into the church. Can you imagine Christians who focus so much on minor opinionated issues that division occurs? I realize that everyone has an opinion on almost everything. I also realize that disputable matters exist. "Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters."(Rom.14:1) We don't ever want to major in minor disputable matters. As the Lord's church we need to recognize opinions and disputable matters as minors to which we give little attention. "For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified."(I Cor.2:2) Paul didn't major in minors, he majored in a crucified Lord. If we major in Jesus we won't major in minors.
