Are You Interested In Revenge

I know you've been wronged at some point in your life. It's safe to say that most of us have had our feelings hurt by others. It's possible that whoever hurt you was a close relative or friend. So, what do you do? When you are hurting and you're angry with a friend or loved one who hurt you, what do you do? I want to focus on what NOT to do. Never ever no matter the circumstances seek revenge. The unspoken rule of the world is if you hurt me I will get even. If you do me wrong then I will do you wrong. I want you to know that revenge may be the temptation every single time you are wronged but it can never be an option. As a Christian striving to live a faithful life no matter the offense or the offender revenge cannot be an option. When a Christian seeks revenge he removes God from the throne of his heart and places himself in total control of his life. Seeking revenge is taking the control and authority away from God. This is dangerous for any of us, not to mention, something we just don't have a right to do. "Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: It is mine to avenge; I will repay, says the Lord."(Rom.12:17-19) There are three things we all need to keep in mind from this text. First of all, don't repay evil to anyone no matter how they treat you. Next we are to live at peace with everyone. Finally, Paul simply says, don't take revenge. No matter what someone does to you, your spouse or your children revenge can never be an option for a Christian. Chuck Ball
