An Important Reminder

I don't know about you but at times I need a reminder. Sometimes I get so busy doing one thing that I forget about something else. I keep a day timer so that I can write down everything I need to get done or every appointment that I have. That little calendar serves as a daily reminder for me. There are times when I need a different kind of reminder. With all that's going on in our world, from Ebola to ISIS, I get a little stressed and concerned and need to be reminded that God is still in control. In fact, what I should do is write "God Is In Control" on every single day in my calendar just as a reminder. If it's the world news or our local happenings there's a lot of bad news that can bring us down and challenge our faith. We must remember every day that no matter how bad the outbreak of Ebola is or how threatening ISIS becomes or who is elected on a local or national level, God is in control. God always has and always will call the shots. At arguably the most difficult time in Jesus" life, before the cross, He knew His Father in heaven was in control. The night before Jesus was to endure the cross he spent time with those closest to him and in prayer with the Father. We truly see the humanity of Jesus in this scene as he struggled in his flesh with the reality of being nailed to a cross. "Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, "My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will."(Mt.26:39) Jesus prayed that same prayer two more times that night in the garden asking God to please find another way and not make him endure the cross. The amazing thing to me is at Jesus" darkest and most stressful time on earth he recognized that God was still in control. I just want to remind you today that no matter what is going on in this world, God is still in control.
