A Powerful Prayer

"Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting."(Psalm 139:23-24) That is one powerful prayer that David prayed. I'll admit that much of my prayers consist of me lifting up the names of those who are sick or grieving. I also pray for the church and our leaders, my wife and kids as well. These are all fine to mention in prayer to God but if I'm honest, when I get personal with God it tends to be about asking Him to take care of this or that in my life. All of that to say, I don't know that I put myself out in the open in prayer before God like David did. David is putting his whole self out there when he asks God to search his heart to see if there is anything offensive. David is wanting God to find and cleanse any impurity within his life. You and I can hide things in our lives from one another but not from God. David wants to be all in for God with no offenses standing between him and his relationship with God. David's desire is a right heart in right standing with God and for God to lead him in His ways. Are you comfortable praying that prayer to God? Are you willing for God to search your heart? Are you keeping something offensive to God hidden in your life that hinders your relationship with Him? Ask God to search your heart and to lead you in the way everlasting.
