A New Year And The Same Old Plan

December 30, 2014 | By Chuck

It's hard to believe that another year has passed and 2015 is here. I've always heard that time goes by faster the older you get and I'm starting to believe it. I know many make New Year's Resolutions as one year comes to an end and the New Year dawns. There is nothing wrong with that at all. In fact, those resolutions are personal goals and plans for some kind of improvement one hopes to achieve in the New Year. Your personal goals or New Year's resolutions also provide a positive direction for your life in the upcoming year. For me personally, I don't make New Year's resolutions, I just try to stick to my same old plan. My personal plan for 2015 is the same plan I've tried to live by for the past several years. My same old plan is nothing remarkable or earth shattering but very simple. My personal plan for 2015 is to grow spiritually. That's it, that's my goal and has been each year for a long time. I just want to do the things throughout 2015 that will bring about spiritual growth in my life. Why is my plan to grow spiritually and why do I continue to stick to that plan year after year? Well, when I grow spiritually I grow closer to our Heavenly Father. As I grow closer to our Heavenly Father I become more like His Son, Jesus. As I become more like Jesus I am a better husband, father, son, minister and Christian. My point is that I'm a better and more complete and whole person when I grow spiritually, so I will stick to my same old plan year after year. I want to encourage you as you make your resolutions for the New Year to consider adding spiritual growth to your list. "But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ."(II Peter 3:18)
